The best hitters in baseball had a tough time hitting against the retired closer for 19 years. That means Rovell had very little chance of having success.

Rovell and others had a chance to face Rivera as a part of New Era's plan to promote its new Diamond Era hats. After signing a waiver, it was time to step up to the plate.
