Batista Jack Swagger 6' 6" 6' 6" 290 Lbs. 263 Lbs. Sit-down Powerbomb Gut-wrench Powerbomb
As you can see, the physical match up of these two men is very close. They are the same height. They have similar finishers. Batista outweighs Swagger by a mere 27 pounds, but the main difference between the two, however, is that one can wrestle whereas the other cannot. Jack Swagger is a two-time All-American amateur wrestler. He has worked long and hard to make it as a professional wrestler. Swagger has the God-given ability to put on an outstanding match with anyone at anytime. Swagger has worked with some less than stellar talent and managed to turn what should have been a two-star match at best, into a three or four-star match. The match he put on with Ricky Ortiz, for the No. 1 contendership to Matt Hardy's ECW title was a great match. He has also put on great matches with John Cena and Tommy Dreamer—two men who are not known for pure wrestling ability. With Randy Orton, Triple H, and others, he could consistently put on five-star matches. Batista, on the other hand, is nothing more than a body builder turned professional wrestler. I would go as far as to say Batista is the antithesis of everything Swagger has worked so hard for. Much like Swagger, Batista is a big, powerful man. But where Swagger can make any match great, Batista needs a Jericho, Edge, Undertaker, Triple H, etc. to have a memorable match. If they would work a trade, they could get Swagger to RAW. I don't think Batista can go much longer with the injuries piling up. Swagger could be his last great feud since Swagger has the natural talent to have great matches with Batista. What does Swagger get out of taking out one of RAW's top stars though? A major main-event push and instant major heel heat for one. It's a chance to shine as a top star on a major brand and above all, he gets a chance to prove he really is the future of the business. It is a win-win situation for both men. Batista gets to end his career on a high note, having some of the best matches of his career. Swagger gets instant credibility as a main-event caliber performer, and becomes a WWE championship contender. Come on WWE, allow Swagger to put the Animal out to pasture. |
