Fantasy Baseball's Week 13 Waiver Wire Pickups

Week 13 of the MLB season has finally arrived, and fans are now beginning to see the growth of several rising squads.  The Colorado Rockies are untouchable, the Baltimore Orioles have swept the Phillies, the Rays are on the rise once again, and Manny Ramirez is on a rehab assignment.

It does not get better than this.   Here are 10 pros who could prove to be valuable on a fantasy team as the season wears on.  Their availabilities at ESPN, Yahoo! Sports, and CBS Sports are shown.



Everth Cabrera, SS, SD (ESPN- 0.2% owned) (Yahoo! Sports- 0% owned) (CBS Sports- 2% owned)

Cabrera, a young shortstop in the San Diego Padres organization, found himself on the 60-day DL to start the season.  After playing in 14 minor league contests, he is now in a big league uniform to aid the ailing San Diego Padres.  So far this season, Cabrera is hitting .333 with 0 HR, 3 RBI, 8 R, and 2 SB in 27 AB. 

Cabrera should provide fantasy owners with a solid bench option throughout the year, as he brings speed and contact to any team.  In his 14 minor league games, he batted for a .360 average, swiped five bags, and scored 12 runs.  He will have this same type of impact with the Padres.

All-in-all, he could be used as a bench player in mixed and deeper NL-only formats.  He has the potential to be a solid option in the future, so keep your eye on him as the year continues on...
