Atalanta Fans Apparently Throw Knife, Bananas at AC Milan Players

Fans throwing projectiles onto the pitch has been a blight on football for ages now, with bananas recently emerging as the object du jour for racists across the world.

That said, when Metro reports surfaced Sunday of abuse from Atalanta supporters against AC Milan players, there may have been something much more dangerous completely lost in the shuffle.

That image, from our Twitter account @br_uk, is taken directly from the Getty Images archives after the game (with the relevant bit zoomed in).

That certainly looks like a knife on the pitch, which would undoubtedly necessitate a thorough investigation from Atalanta and Serie A. Scary stuff.
