Atletico Madrid missed out on the chance to seal the La Liga title as they drew 1-1 with Malaga at the Vicente Calderon Stadium on Sunday.

Diego Simeone's team still hold a three-point advantage over second-placed Barcelona in the championship chase, but Malaga goalkeeper Willy Caballero denied a title celebration this weekend with a superb save from Adrian Lopez.

But Atletico still remain course for their first title since 1996 after Barcelona drew with Elche.

Here are our player ratings for Atletico in the game against Malaga.

Ian Rodgers for Bleacher Report

Thibaut Courtois: Barely troubled apart from one early effort from Malaga, but arguably could have done better for the Malaga goal.

Juanfran: Man of the match so far for Atletico, offering a persistent threat for the home side in the opening half. Found chances to move forward more limited in the second period, though.

Toby Alderweireld: A Jekyll-and-Hyde display for the defender, whose error gifted Samuel his goal for Malaga before atoning for his error with the equaliser for Atletico.

Miranda: Looked solid for the most part of the game.

Filipe Luis: A surprise exclusion from the Brazil World Cup squad, and produced another reliable display.

Tiago: Looked to provide a threat for Atletico, but never fully got a hold on the game.

Koke: Sacrificed for Adrian Lopez in the 57th minute.

Gabi: Always looking for the forward ball.

Arda Turan: Not at his best for Atletico.

Raul Garcia: A consistent display before his 63rd-minute withdrawal for Jose Sosa.

David Villa: Missed an early gilt-edged opportunity but continued to work hard for another chance.

Adrian Lopez: So unlucky to be denied a title-winning strike by Caballero in the closing stages after an impressive display after replacing Koke in the 57th minute.

Jose Sosa: Almost gave Atletico the win with a late free-kick after replacing Raul Garcia in the 63rd minute.

Diego Ribas: A solid 20-minute appearance for the home side after coming on for Arda Turan.
