Victor Ortiz will be on HBO's Boxing After Dark on Saturday, June 27, at 10:00 p.m. (live ET/taped delayed PT) from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
The HBO Sports team, which consists of Bob Papa, Emanuel Steward, and Max Kellerman, will be ringside for this event which will be presented in HDTV, closed-captioned for the hearing-impaired, and presented in Spanish on HBO Latino.
In what should be an action-packed junior-welterweight 12-round fight, rising star Victor Ortiz (24-1-1, 19 KOs) from Oxnard, California, faces Marcos Rene Maidana (25-1, 24 KOs) of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Last March, Ortiz surprised everyone, including myself, when he easily stopped Mike Arnaoutis in the second round in what was supposed to be his most competitive test.
Initially, this night was scheduled to have a co-feature title fight with the rematch of Chris John vs. Rocky Juarez, but that fight has been cancelled due to illness.
HBO's award winning 24/7 series featuring Floyd Mayweather vs. Juan Manuel Marquez will be delayed due to the postponement of their fight. The new debut date of 24/7 series will be announced once the fight is rescheduled.
