Jadeveon Clowney Says Andrew Luck Should 'Have His Head on a Swivel'

You hear that, Andrew Luck? Clowney is calling you out. Kind of.

Jadeveon Clowney is entering the 2014 NFL Draft with supreme confidence, and the projected first pick overall has a message for Colts quarterback Andrew Luck should the two end up in the same division: Don’t get comfortable.

Yahoo! Sports columnist Dan Wetzel (h/t Lost Lettermen) reported on Wednesday the South Carolina defensive end expects the Houston Texans to take him with the first overall pick. This would place Clowney in the AFC South, playing the Indianapolis Colts twice a year.

Should this be the case, Clowney says the Colts signal-caller should keep one eye on his side of the line:

That’s veteran-level hype talk coming from a kid who isn’t even in the league yet. Personally, I love it.

Clowney is going to sink like pig iron or rise violently in this league. Even a mediocre year will be roundly tattooed with “bust” labels, so he might as well play up the season. It’s not like his actions will go unnoticed should he keep his mouth shut.

Even better, he’s calling out a guy who’s everything but fluent in trash talk. I can’t wait to see if and how Luck responds (he won’t).

Then again, as Lost Lettermen points out, there’s always the chance that the Texans don't select Clowney: “Keep in mind that Clowney would still get the chance to go after Luck twice a year if he slipped to the Jacksonville Jaguars at No. 3. He’d simply be less scary because…well, he’d be on the Jaguars.”

Indeed, a line with Clowney and J.J. Watt is a lot scarier than a line with just Clowney. Either way, Clowney is putting Luck on notice, and we’ll have to wait until fall to see where these chickens will roost.

Protect ya neck, Luck.
