At the Extreme Rules pay-per-view, we saw two of the greatest trios ever assembled go head-to-head in one of the most scintillating, unpredictable matches of the year. Following a brawl that spilled out into the crowd, Roman Reigns and Batista remained as the sole representatives of their respective teams in the ring, with the former decisively winning the match for The Shield.
However, the feud seemed to continue on with its second chapter on the May 5 edition of Raw when Evolution walloped The Shield to close the show. Reigns even got a taste of his own medicine when Batista, via the aid of Triple H and Randy Orton, triple powerbombed the muscleman of the black-clad group.
As one might expect, according to Mike Johnson of the subscribers-only PWInsider Elite (via Wrestling Inc), the factions are slated to lock horns again, as soon as the Payback pay-per-view, though there is some back and forth among WWE management as to whether it would be just a straight-up rematch (with a stipulation) or three singles bouts pairing off the team members against one another.
If the teams square off again in a six-man affair, the stipulation would likely be a "Chicago Street Fight," since Payback is being held at the Allstate Arena in the Windy City.
If the plan is to do three separate matches, it will be interesting to see who is matched up with whom. Certainly, one would think that Reigns vs. Triple H would not be one of the bouts, as it is a marquee match that the company would probably like to build toward slowly, perhaps in time for SummerSlam.
