TNA Joker's Wild II 2014: Match Card, PPV Info and Spoiler-Free Preview

Donald WoodFeatured ColumnistMay 7, 2014

One of the innovative changes TNA made last year was the introduction of the One Night Only pay-per-view series. The company has carried that new tradition into 2014, and this month’s event is the Joker's Wild II tournament.

There were 12 teams randomly drawn and forced to compete in a tag team tournament, with the six winning combinations advancing to an every-man-for-himself Battle Royal at the end of the night.

The winner of that Battle Royal will be awarded $100,000.

Fans who attended the PPV taping took to Twitter to explain their experience:

Here is the full match card, the vital viewing information and a spoiler-free preview of the event.

Joker’s Wild II Preview and Predictions

In one of the most unique and exciting shows of the year, TNA presents the 2014 edition of the Joker’s Wild II tournament this Friday, May 9 on PPV.

The company’s vignette for the show (shown above) reveals the teams for the event, but that doesn’t take away from the magnitude of the PPV. If you can avoid spoilers, this will be one of the most entertaining wrestling programs you watch this month.

Joker’s Wild II is can’t-miss television.

In the first match, the hope is that then-champion Magnus and tag team partner Doug Williams advance past Chris Sabin and Gunner. It’s never a good idea to have the champion lose in the qualification rounds.

As for some clear winners, look for Samoa Joe and Bad Bones to beat Christopher Daniels and Robbie E, Bully Ray and Rockstar Spud to beat Mr. Anderson and Austin Aries, Eric Young and Ethan Carter III to beat Curry Man and Kazarian and Samuel Shaw and Abyss to beat Zema Ion and Jessie Godderz.

The real match-of-the-night contender will be the battle between long-time teammates James Storm and Bobby Roode, formally known as Beer Money, standing toe-to-toe with The Wolves (Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards). If you love tag team wrestling, this match should have all the classic spots and high flying that makes purchasing the PPV worth it.

With no future in Beer Money, the hope is that TNA gives The Wolves a huge win and that they advance.

As for the women’s match, simple booking with no long-term implications usually goes to the faces, so fans should expect Velvet Sky, Madison Rayne and ODB to defeat Gail Kim, Lei'D Tapa and Alpha Female.

After all of the preliminary action is over, the 12-man Battle Royal will take place. My predicted participants are Magnus, Doug Williams, Samoa Joe, Bad Bones, Bully Ray, Rockstar Spud, Eric Young, ECIII, Samuel Shaw, Abyss, Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards.

Regardless of which 12 competitors make it to the final round, the resulting battle will be an exciting match. With some of the biggest names in the sport going head-to-head with $100,000 on the line, the bout should feature a great mixture of technical wrestling, high-flying action and memorable Battle Royal moments.

The man who needs the win most is Samoa Joe. With no storyline direction, Samoa Joe deserves so much better than he has been given, and payback could start with a huge victory at the Joker’s Wild tournament.

There is no doubt that Samoa Joe would rather have a run with the TNA World Heavyweight Championship, but $100,000 is not a bad consolation prize.

Predicted Joker’s wild Winner: Samoa Joe
