Who is No. 1 Come Draft Day?

Who will the N.Y. Islanders draft?

Islanders G.M. Garth Snow is in a great position to make a huge splash in this Friday’s upcoming draft with first pick overall. The Isle’s will have two first-round picks and three second-picks. They have a great opportunity here to secure the future of this franchise.

What will Snow do?

I believe the Islanders are building this team from the blueline up, and that started by signing DiPietro long term and adding Mark Streit to quarterback the power play. With that in mind, the Islanders will choose: 6-foot-6, 220 lbs Swedish defenceman Victor Hedman.

Scouting reports say Hedman plays a similar style to defenseman Jay Bouwmeester. Hedman is a big, puck-moving defenseman who is capable of scoring.

After picking Hedman, what will the Islander’s do to about their scoring issues?

With the No. 24 pick and the No. 31, the Islander’s could be in a great position to move down in the draft, maybe another top 10 player?

If the Islander’s do well in this years draft, that will go a long way in attracting free agents to Long Island. In fact, a rumor that is circulating around the Internet is G.M. Snow will make a big announcement during the Islander’s Draft Party that they have the negotiating rights to the Sedin twins.
