Laporte Silences Barcelona Rumors

1 of 9

Athletic Club Bilbao centre-back Aymeric Laporte has been linked with a move to Barcelona for several weeks now, however, the French starlet may have just made it clear that he won't be leaving the Basque side this summer.

Following Athletic Club's latest victory, which saw Los Leones clinch a fourth-place finish and secure Champions League play, Laporte had this to say regarding exit rumors, via Inside Spanish Football.

I am only focused on playing in the Champions League with Athletic next year. I’m not going to talk about anything else. I’m not focused on the rumors, in fact, I’m really oblivious to what all is being said. I’m happy here. Valverde has helped a lot, both for the club and for me personally. He’s given me a lot of confidence and helped me grow a lot quicker than I would anywhere else.

On the surface, it seems as though Laporte wants to finish what he started at Athletic next season, and Barca would find it hard to sign the 19-year-old who commands a €36 million buyout clause.

Luis Enrique to Be the Next Barcelona Manager?

2 of 9

By now, it seems like everyone realizes that Tata Martino will not continue as the Barcelona manager beyond this month. Several names have come up as possible replacements, but it looks like the Catalans may have found their man.

According to a recent report from Inside Spanish Football, Barcelona sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta was seen going into the home of Luis Enrique with the two spending several hours behind closed doors.

Enrique is a former Barcelona player and currently manages Celta Vigo. Enrique was one of the names being tossed around last summer before Martino joined, and now, he may finally have his homecoming.

3 of 9

Barcelona's search for a new centre-back continually has names popping up to be linked with a move to the Camp Nou, but one name that just won't go away is Chelsea's David Luiz.

According to, Luiz is rumored to have agreed to personal terms with Barcelona. The report claims that Agencia News were the ones to make the claim, but nothing has been confirmed or clarified at this point.

It is very possible that Luiz could leave London this summer, though it is uncertain just where he could end up.

A report from Andreas Vou of Football Direct News also claims that Chelsea will not part with Luiz for cheap, while also highlighting that the supposed preagreement could see the Brazilian earn €5.5 million per year.

Liverpool Showing Interest in Cristian Tello

4 of 9

If reports from John Cross of The Mirror are to be believed, Cristian Tello could be on his way to join Liverpool this summer.

The report claims that an argument between Tello and Martino was captured on video and that the club has since accepted that the winger must leave. Yet, with Martino unlikely to remain in charge, this seems a bit rash.

Despite the rumors, Tello has not featured regularly for Barcelona this season and could be looking for a move away. Talk of a bust-up with the manager may be blown out of proportion, but that doesn't mean Tello is off the market.

Thibaut Courtois to Hand in Transfer Request

5 of 9

Barcelona need a new keeper; that isn't a secret. La Blaugrana need to replace both Victor Valdes and Jose Pinto, and what better way to do that than to sign one of the best keepers in the game.

According to a recent report from (h/t, Atletico Madrid keeper Thibaut Courtois will try to force a move to Barcelona this summer.

The report claims that Courtois does not want to leave La Liga, but he is aware that Atletico may not be able to afford to keep him. With that being the case, it is rumored that he could hand in a transfer request to Chelsea this summer in hopes of signing for Barcelona.

While this is nothing but speculation at this point, the Catalans will likely have one eye on the situation.

Messi Wants Aguero at Barcelona

6 of 9

In what may be the biggest transfer gossip of the week, Manchester City star forward Sergio Aguero is now being linked with a move to the Camp Nou.

According to the Daily Mail, Lionel Messi has asked Barcelona to sign his Argentina teammate and close friend as part of negotiations for a new contract.

Aguero and Messi are known to have a great relationship on and off the pitch, and it looks like the Barcelona ace wants his friend to join him in wearing the blaugrana shirt. Of course, Manchester City will not be looking to deal a star player this summer, but anything can happen in football.

For now, the though of Aguero joining Messi at Barcelona seems outside the realm of possibility. But if the rumors are true, that Messi has asked for it to happen, the Catalans may make a strong push for the 25-year-old this summer.

Vincent Kompany and Paul Pogba on the Radar

7 of 9

Barcelona claim they are ready to rebuild this summer, and recent rumors make it look like the Catalans are very serious about that.

In a recent report from (H/T, both Paul Pogba and Vincent Kompany have been added to the club's summer transfer wishlist.

It is believed that Barcelona are looking to shore up the defensive line with new players who can provide new strength and physicality. The Catalans view Kompany to be just the man for the job, but are also wary that it would cost a lot to pry him away from Manchester City.

At the same time, the reports claim that the Catalans want to add Pogba for the reasoning that he adds something different to midfield play. However, with the Juventus star believed to command a €60 million price-tag, a move for the 21-year-old will be very difficult.

Dani Alves Could Leave This Summer

8 of 9

Dani Alves may be quickly approaching his final days at Barcelona. The Brazilian right-back has recently sent a warning message to his current club and his future is now in question.

In a recent interview reported by Peter McVitie of, Alves made it clear that things have to change if he is to continue past the current season.

"I need energy, it’s what motivates me; I’m an upbeat, happy person. I’ve always been like that, but because the results aren’t what people expect, they need someone to shoot at and I feel shot at. I really believe in energy, I live off this energy and, if you start to create negative energy, things don’t flow. If this energy doesn’t change, I’ll probably leave because it wears you down. If I'm to stay this summer, there has to be a change of energy."

It seems as though there will be several changes at Barcelona this summer, but only time will tell if Dani Alves will still be wearing the Blaugrana shirt next year.

Alexis Sanchez on the Move?

9 of 9

Despite having a breakout campaign this season, Barcelona winger Alexis Sanchez could be on the move this summer.

According to Alan Nixon of The Mirror, European giants Arsenal and Juventus are interested in making a move for the Chilean and could offer a substantial bid this summer.

The report goes on to say that Sanchez is open to the idea of moving this summer. Juventus and Arsenal are closely monitoring the situation and Barcelona should take notice.

As of now, there is no word from Barcelona regarding their stance on the possible move, but one has to image that the Catalans would not want to lose such an important player this summer.
