It’s May, and there is still everything to play for at the Bernabeu.

The Copa del Rey is in the bag, La Decima is on the horizon, and despite a disappointing draw with Valencia on Sunday, the La Liga title and a historic treble are not yet out of the question.

With that being said, even in the case of Madrid securing all three trophies this season, there is still likely to be movement from Los Blancos in the transfer market—you cannot afford to stand still and bathe in your success at the top level of European football.

The following slides will aim to keep you informed on the latest news, gossip and transfer rumours surrounding Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

    Last update: Monday, May 5.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has his “beady eye” on Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane, according to a report by J.I. Garcia-Ochoa in Marca.

Mourinho knows the French defender well, having spent two seasons at the Bernabeu alongside the youngster, and he may feel that personal relationship would give him a head start in securing the player’s signature.

Garcia-Ochoa says that Mourinho has already begun to draw up a list of players he wants to sign this summer and that the directors of the London club have already been instructed to try to sign Varane.

Pepe and Sergio Ramos, plus a series of injuries, have limited Varane’s game time this season. While he may be happy to stay at Madrid, if he was offered regular football at Stamford Bridge, he may be forced to consider it.

Fabio Coentrao

El Confidencial (via Football Espana) have suggested that Fabio Coentrao’s recent run of games and form in the Real Madrid side could lead to a contract extension.

The 26-year-old was one of the club’s more impressive performers in the Champions League semifinal against Bayern Munich, and he has managed to keep Brazilian international Marcelo waiting on the sideline.

Coentrao was expected to leave this summer—Juventus, AC Milan and Manchester United have all been linked—but it appears a U-turn could be about to take place.

The story ends by saying that negotiations between player and club will begin soon.

Paul Pogba

In contrast to those Coentrao contract stories, Corriere dello Sport in Italy (via Football Espana) have written that the left-back will be one of three players offered to Juventus by Real Madrid in exchange for Paul Pogba.

Striker Alvaro Morata and midfielder Angel Di Maria are supposedly the other two players Madrid would be willing to let go if it meant securing Pogba’s services.

The French international midfielder has long been mentioned as a target for Los Blancos, with Zinedine Zidane thought to be particularly keen on him moving to the Bernabeu.

Raul

One story which doesn’t involve Real Madrid as such but will resonate in the hearts of Madridistas is the future of club legend Raul.

The 36-year-old striker had been playing his football in Qatar in recent years, after a spell with Schalke in Germany, but a report in AS by Tomas Roncero suggests he will play out his career with the New York Cosmos in America:

The United States has always interested Raúl and he sees a move stateside as an opportunity for his family (his wife Mamen is expecting their sixth child). Cosmos signed some of the biggest names in football in their 1970s heyday with Pelé, Franz Beckenbauer and Giorgio Chinaglia amongst their top stars.

Wherever he ends up, the Bernabeu will always be Raul’s home.
