The Pittsburgh Penguins were opportunistic as they tied their second-round playoff series against the New York Rangers at one game each.

In a close-fought game that saw both teams struggling on offense, the Penguins took a 1-0 lead midway through the game with a Kris Letang shot deflected off Rangers' defenseman Dan Girardi's stick, past goaltender Henrik Lundqvist.

The Penguins pressed hard from there, but Lundqvist was able to shut the door until the 16:30 mark of the third period, when Jussi Jokinen converted on the power play.

Evgeni Malkin added an empty-net goal, giving the Penguins the 3-0 shutout win and sending the series to New York tied 1-1.

The teams are right back at it with no rest: Game 3 goes Monday at Madison Square Garden.
