Houston's Unpraised Leader: Dikembe Mutumbo

Dikimbe Mutombo, the ageless wonder. Does anyone really know how old he is? The answer, 41. He will be 42 in less then 2 months. How can a man this old possibly still get it done at in NBA level? Who knows.

Everyone thought all was lost for the Rockets when Yao was gone, but they were wrong. Sure there has been other players stepping up, but Dikembe went from a rarely playing backup role straight to a starter. He gave the the Rockets 3 points and 5 rebounds a game in the regular season, not to mention he swatted away 1.2 shots a game. These stats are misleading, a lot of that was when he was a backup, they are higher as a starter. In the playoffs, he has stepped up his role, 4 points a game, 6 rebounds and 2 rejections a game. How is that for an almost 42 year old?

Now, stats aren't everything. He has also lead his team in the locker room, and shown without Yao, people will need to step up their game, and he did just that. It is definitely nice for the Rockets to have a 7'2, 17 year veteran who definitely isn't afraid to block a shot or two.

Now I am not saying he has been the Rockets MVP this season, but I would say it is him right after Mcgrady.

So all I have to say to you Dikembe, is keep waving that finger, lead the Rockets to the Finals.
