Steven Gerrard has been painted by a blind artist—and the Liverpool captain was moved by the quality of the finished work.

Gerrard praised the piece by Matthew Rhodes and even signed it:

According to the Daily Mail, Gerrard said:

I was really impressed with the painting and I think that Matthew did capture a good likeness of me.

His talent and technique is illustrated in this piece, which I was more than happy to sign.

Rhodes, 39, suffered a motorbike accident in 1995—and was serving in the army at the time.

He turned to art after joining the Blind Veterans UK charity, and more of his remarkable work can be found on his blog.
