It looks like Joey Votto is going to be back with the Reds tonight. Rumors started yesterday afternoon that Votto was on the team flight to Toronto. The Reds and Blue Jays begin a three game series tonight.

Votto was placed on the disabled list on May 30 with stress-related issues. This came after he missed 12 starts because of dizziness and an inner ear infection.

Votto began a rehabilitation assignment last Thursday in Sarasota. He then moved on to Dayton this past weekend. He played in three games and an intrasquad scrimmage, going 3-for-9 with a home run.

If Votto is activated today, he will step to the plate in front of friends and family in his hometown of Toronto. I would certainly think he would receive a warm reception.

Whatever it was that was on Joey Votto's mind, let's hope it is a thing of the past. This young man is an incredible talent and (from what I have heard) a great guy to have in the clubhouse.

The Reds are 8-13 without Votto. Leaving runners on base has been a problem for the offense. Votto is hitting .432 with runners in scoring position.

He is hitting .357 with 8 home runs and 33 RBI for the season.
