Mason Ryan, KENTA and Latest WWE NXT Developmental News
Mason Ryan is no longer a part of WWE NXT, while new rumors of Japanese star KENTA coming aboard are popping up.
The WWE developmental system is constantly shifting, bringing in new names and dismissing old ones. A report lists Ryan as one of several victims of WWE's latest cuts. As for KENTA, his time with Pro Wrestling NOAH is reportedly almost up, leading to speculation of his entering Full Sail University.
In other news, William Regal headed south looking for more talent, a new Diva started training and the second WWE NXT live special is coming.
WWE Announces NXT Takeover
Another NXT live special is coming.
NXT ArRIVAL proved far more than a way to test the WWE Network. It was one of the best WWE shows in recent memory. Tyler Breeze, Adrian Neville and Company are going to get a chance to top that successful night.
WWE announced that NXT Takeover will air live on May 29 on the WWE Network.
Along with the rising stars at Full Sail University, Ric Flair and Rob Van Dam will be there, per PWMania.com. Also, Marc Middleton of WrestlingInc.com reported WWE's revelation at a recent taping that Breeze will face Sami Zayn and Neville will defend his title against Tyson Kidd.
William Regal Scouting in South America
When fans think of hot spots for wrestling talents, Brazil doesn't often pop up. Still, there may be a megastar in waiting down there.
William Regal traveled to Brazil, his eyes out for future prospects.
PWInsider's Dave Scherer reported that the Brit went to "FILL 'Duplo Impacto' (Double Impact) in Rio de Janeiro, RJ. and to BWF 'Convocado para Lutar' (Called to Fight) in Sao Paulo, SP.
WWE's continual, global search for talent is a welcome sight. The more varied the talent WWE scouts, the better.
New Diva to Begin Training
With Emma and Paige now on the main roster, NXT is need of new Divas. Leyvonna Zakari, a Californian actress and model, could eventually fulfill that need.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com wrote that Zakari "reported this week to Orlando, FL to begin training at the WWE Performance Center."
This follows a tryout from a few months back wherein Zakari clearly impressed WWE enough to take her in. Her lack of wrestling experience means it will be a good while before we see her on TV, though.
Unless of course the company goes the Eva Marie route with her.
Adam Rose Set to Party on Raw
It's official. Adam Rose will debut on the May 5 Raw.
WWE aired the above video on Monday's Raw, announcing Rose's first trip to the main roster. Changing from his Leo Kruger persona to his current partygoer gimmick is already proving to be a career-changer.
Rose had been in WWE developmental for years. Not long after he started partying with bunnies and adding bounce to his step, he now finds himself beating out Sami Zayn and Adrian Neville to WWE's major leagues.
Playful gimmicks like his haven't been as successful lately as the darker ones, though. He has to hope his career path looks more like The Wyatt Family and The Shield's than Fandango's.
Update on KENTA
Fans hoping to see KENTA wrestle for WWE have reason to get excited.
The Japanese star made news earlier this year when he worked out at the WWE Performance Center. He left without signing a contract, though. According to WrestlingInc.com's Marc Middleton, he later "gave the impression that he was 'Pro Wrestling Noah' for life" to the Japanese media.
That has reportedly changed.
PWInsider.com (via PWMania.com), reports the following:
It was announced in Japan this morning that Pro Wrestling NOAH star KENTA will be leaving the promotion on May 17th.
Speculation now is that KENTA is headed to WWE but that’s not confirmed yet. He's been with NOAH since they launched.
There has been no word on where KENTA plans to go, but there aren't a ton of places he would leave NOAH for. Did another Japanese promotion scoop him up, or is WWE set to have a head-kicking wizard competing under its banner?
That is sure to be the center of rumors, reports and buzz over the next month.
Several Prospects Released
It was inevitable that WWE would eventually shrink its NXT roster down. An influx of newly signed talents over the last year forced WWE to make cuts.
According to PWInsider.com's Mike Johnson, "WWE released several NXT talents this afternoon."
Mason Ryan is one of many to see his WWE journey end. WWE also released Oliver Grey, Shaul Guerrero (Raquel Diaz) and Danny Burch.
Ryan was on the main roster as part of Nexus but couldn't stick around. He was improving at NXT, becoming a better all-around ring performer, but it appears that it wasn't enough.
The prospects behind Ryan and Grey now have a chance to stand in the spotlight in a slightly less crowded NXT field.
