Every year the AFC South is the most competitive divisions in the NFL. The Indianapolis Colts are usually the team with the best record in the divisions.

Last year, the Tennessee Titans had a breakout season with a 13-3 record.
Now the question in some fans' minds is who will be team on top at the end of the '09 season?

The Jags Might Have Too Much Defense and Not Enough Fire Power

Jacksonville has a decent team this year I'm not going to lie. Torry Holt was a very nice pick up this offseason.

Maurice Jones-Drew will have another "run-a-muck" season but, the loss of Fred Taylor will hurt them more then they think.

They are going to have their traditional hard nose defense that doesn't give up many points.

I just don't think they have enough fire power to be an elite contender in the AFC South. Which means no playoffs for these cats.

They will end up 7-9 due to their schedule.

The Titans Will Not Have a Repeat of Last Season

Most people would jump on the Titans bandwagon and say they are going to be just as good as they were last year.

If you ask me I would say those people are completely wrong. Yes, the Titans went 13-3 last year but, I believe it was just playing good at the right time.
Their defense is not all that impressive in my opinion they down graded from last season with the loss of Haynesworth.

The don't have a go to receiver and I don't think Kerry Collins have another good year left in him.

They have a pretty difficult six games in the beginning of the season and that is why I believe they will be mediocre this season.

Their record will be 8-8.

Despite Minor Issues, the Colts Will Still Be the Usual Colts

The Colts are one of the harder teams to predict. They could let the coaching changes effect their play on the field, but the also have a guy named Peyton Manning who completely changes things.

Honestly, the Colts don't have that good of a team. They keep their key players on Offense and Defense, but the supporting cast will have to improve their play.

I think Peyton will find ways to win close games despite the loss of Marvin Harrison and some of the O-Line.

Their record will be 10-6.

Could This Finally Be the Year!?

The Texans have been the least competitive team in the AFC South. They have never made the playoff since they entered the league.

I believe this might be the year they do. They have a strong chance to go to the playoffs this season.

Why? You might ask. I have several reasons.

The first being the defense. They have a very good or potentially good front seven. At linebacker they have DeMeco Ryans, Cato June, and the rookie Brian Cushing. In front of them they have a nice D-Line. They also have Dante Robinson.

The Second reason would be the offense. Owen Daniels, Andre Johnson, and Steve Slaton are going to tear it up not matter which Qarterback is starting.
Third would be their schedule.

I truly believe they are the most complete team in the AFC South.
Therefore, their record will be 10-6.

AFC Final Standings

In conclusion the final standings will look like this at the end of the season:
1. Texans 10-6
2. Colts 10-6
3. Titans 8-8
4. Jaguars 7-9

I believe the Texans and The Colts will have the same record but, the Texans will win the tie breaker.
