The Biggest Hits in World Rugby This Week: Heineken Cup Bumps Headline

Tom SunderlandFeatured Columnist IVNovember 7, 2016

With the Heineken Cup coming back into full view this past weekend, Europe's domestic action was put on hold all across the continent, making for a miniature edition of our biggest hits.

In the end, it was Toulon and Saracens who proceeded to the Millennium Stadium finale, beating Munster and Clermont Auvergne, respectively, to book their places in the Welsh capital.

However, as is very frequently the case at this level, that reward did not come without sacrifice, and the most available commodity on offer in this sport usually goes hand-in-hand with a few bruises along the way.

And it was surprisingly the backs who feature most prominently, too, as the Toulon pairing of Bryan Habana and Matt Giteau, not to mention Clermont's Benson Stanley, got in on the big-hit brigade.

South of the equator, we have just one entrant this week, and there are no prizes for guessing that the defensively rigid Western Force are the ones who dished it out.

So sit back and marvel as some of the finest talents in both Northern and Southern Hemispheres collide for your viewing entertainment.
