According to the tears flowing from this young fan, meeting Carlos Gomez must be some kind of wonderful.
For the Win's Nina Mandell spotted this video of the Brewers slugger meeting with fans ahead of Milwaukee's game with the Chicago Cubs.
As you can see in the video, Gomez spends time with fans and meets a young lady who is quite taken with the moment. The announcer chimes in with, "Before the game, Carlos Gomez...I don't know if you can say he made her day or made her year."
We are going with year.
The video was picked up and posted over on NESN, HardballTalk and CBS Sports. Unfortunately, we couldn't track down the fan's name or the reason she was so taken with the chance meeting. We are left to merely assume that the bombastic slugger happens to be her favorite player on the Brew Crew.
We do have to echo what others are saying at the moment: This is a pretty awesome video.
Obviously, it's odd that Gomez is the one spreading so much goodwill when fans usually see him causing so much grief for the opposition in the form of home run gazing.
Now, just because you are one of the more polarizing sports figures, someone whose admiration of his own work has caused so much debate, it doesn't mean that he can't garner a tremendous outpouring of goodwill.
There were a sizable amount of Gomez fans out at Miller Park, because as ESPN.com notes, Sunday coincided with Carlos Gomez bobblehead night.
In an odd twist, Gomez yields a Beatles reaction from a fan, inducing giant sobs of adulation. As we all know, there are some MLB pitchers who have the exact opposite reaction when they see this guy.
