Steven Gerrard's slip to let Demba Ba in during Liverpool's loss to Chelsea on Sunday could cost the Reds the Premier League title—but to make matters worse, it definitely cost the Liverpool youth team a meal at McDonald's.
Former Liverpool right-back Rob Jones revealed before the match that Gerrard himself had made the promise to pay for a trip to the fast food restaurant—but only if they beat Chelsea:
Stevie said he will treat them to a McDonald's if they beat Chelsea on Sunday.. Happy meals all round then🙏🍔🍟 pic.twitter.com/1YJrUWG97v— Rob Jones (@RobjonesLFC2) April 23, 2014
With a run of 11 straight wins in the league and a five-point advantage at the top, Liverpool looked a good bet for victory.
But now Manchester City will win the title if they take maximum points from their three remaining games and maintain their superior goal difference.
Still, if Liverpool do take the crown, you'd expect Gerrard to reinstate that offer to the kids...
