Los Angeles Kings 3, San Jose Sharks 0; FINAL
The Los Angeles Kings faced elimination for the second straight game and once again they have played well enough to stay alive. Jonathan Quick made 30 saves to lead Los Angeles to a 3-0 win in San Jose.
Goals by Tyler Toffoli and Anze Kopitar gave the Kings a 2-0 lead after one period. Then Jeff Carter scored a power play goal in the first minute of the second period to increase the lead to 3-0.
San Jose lacked intensity and was not able to control the flow of play.The Kings scored early and then smothered the Sharks for most of the game.
Alex Stalock replaced Antti Niemi early in the second period and made a strong case to start Game 6 by not giving up a goal. The Sharks also lost defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic to an injury in the first period.
Los Angeles has rallied to win two straight and now trails in the series 3-2. Only three teams have ever overcome a 3-0 series deficit and come back to win.
Game 6 will be Monday night in Los Angeles.
