UFC Heavyweight Shake-Down

The Heavyweight Division is packed with prospects. Joe Silva and Dana White have many match-ups to choose from, but the delicate art of scheduling will determine who fights who.

Top Ten UFC Heavyweights:

1. Brock Lesnar (Champion)
2. Frank Mir (Interim Champion)
3. Randy Couture
4. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira
5. Cain Velasquez
6. Shane Carwin
7. Junior dos Santos
8. Gabriel Gonzaga
9. Cheick Congo
10. Mirko Filipovic

Shane Carwin - Win over Gabriel Gonzaga at UFC 96 in March.

Contract Dispute:

Mirko Filipovic - Signed with DREAM while having a verbal agreement to a three fight contract with UFC.

Cain Valasquez - Win over Cheick Kongo at UFC 99 in June.

Brock Lesnar vs. Frank Mir at UFC 100 in July
Randy Couture vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at UFC 102 in August.
Junior dos Santos vs. Justin McCully at UFC 102 in August.
Gabriel gonzaga vs. Chris Tuchscherer at UFC 102 in August. (unofficial)

Note: UFC 100, 101, and 102 are fully booked.

Power of Deduction:

Availability states that Shane Carwin and Cain Valasquez will face each other at UFC 103.

The winner of Brock Lesnar vs. Frank Mir will defend the Unified Heavyweight Title at UFC 106 against the winner of Shane Carwin vs. Cain Valasquez.

If Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Junior dos Santos both win at UFC 102, expect to see them face-off at UFC 106 for the #1 contender for the Heavyweight Crown.

Randy Couture will be a free agent after his bout with Antonio Rodrigo Noguerira. Expect to see Couture make a last ditch effort to fight Fedor Emelianenko in Affliction.
