A spirited matchup that looked like the battle that fans expected when the series began, the San Jose Sharks were able to stage a third-period comeback and win their first game in two years at Staples Center to take a commanding 3-0 lead in their first round Stanley Cup Playoff series against the Los Angeles Kings.
After being trounced in the series' first two games in San Jose, the Kings came out more composed and dialed up their physical game and special teams, building a 3-2 lead in the third period.
But the Sharks battled back, with a tremendous effort from rookie Tomas Hertl on the tying goal in the third period, then a game-winner from Patrick Marleau against the flow of the play in overtime.
The Sharks will now have a chance to sweep the series in Los Angeles when Game 4 goes Thursday.
Final Score: San Jose Sharks 4 - Los Angeles Kings 3 (OT)
Sharks lead series 3-0
