Smackdown Divas Get The PPV Spot at The Bash

Christi LottCorrespondent IDecember 18, 2016

On Friday Night Smackdown it was announced that Melina will finally be defending her title at The Bash on June 28(my birthday) against no. 1 contender Michelle McCool. It's a long time coming in the Divas getting a solo match PPV spot. Coincidentally Melina was in the last, the Royal Rumble in January.

Also in an interesting coincidence is that Michelle McCool became the first Divas champion at The Bash just last year. If she wins, she'll be the first Diva to have held both titles.

I have to say I'm looking forward to this match. Although I'm not a huge fan of Michelle, she's obviously the most pushed heel and most obvious pick to be Melina's opponent.

I'm personally picking Melina to win, or at least I think she's the better pick. She's the most over Diva on the SD roster and the most consistent in terms of putting on good matches.

I would ultimately prefer Natalya to be next up as an opponent. I think with the attention she's getting with the Hart Foundation that she herself should get some as a Women's champion contender. I know I'm not the only one who hated seeing her go to the wayside after feuding with Michelle.

I don't know who'd be next up as a contender for McCool as champion. Eve? Way too green. Maria? Doesn't even wrestle anymore. Gail Kim? A bit non-existent but the obvious choice. Melina and Michelle haven't had a long feud, nor have they really gotten at each other like Melina did with Beth and Mickie on RAW, and I don't think they can carry a summer long feud.

Regardless of what happens, it's nice to see the Divas get some real PPV attention again and have it be what looks to be a good match.
