As with most pay-per-views in the WWE, Extreme Rules provides plenty of storylines for fans to get their teeth into all across the card.

With The Shield vs. Evolution likely to steal most of the attention at the show, there are a lot of rivalries and stories elsewhere on the card that may escape the limelight.

However, that doesn't mean those storylines don't deserve some exposure. In fact, there are plenty of intriguing aspects to Extreme Rules.

Let's take a look at the most underappreciated storylines fans should follow at the show.

A Fresh Divas Approach

For months, the Divas division in the WWE has been almost plodding along without any real interest attached to it.

However, in just a matter of weeks, that has all changed. After AJ Lee was finally dethroned by the exciting Paige, we finally have a new champion.

And her first challenger is someone who has been at the forefront of the division without even wrestling. The fact that Tamina Snuka is finally wrestling in a championship match is a nice, fresh approach for the WWE to take.

And who knows, we could have yet another new champion at Extreme Rules. There is the genuine possibility of both competitors winning the match. That is something we haven't seen too much of recently in the Divas division.

Tensions Amongst Tensions

Whilst The Shield vs. Evolution is no doubt the focal point of Extreme Rules, there are plenty of subplots to that match that are well worth following.

You are rarely guaranteed anything when it comes to a match involving The Shield these days. That split is forever mentioned, and there is the possibility of it happening at any point over the next few months.

And as for Evolution, we have no idea what it will bring to the party at Extreme Rules. After all, it has only been a few weeks since Randy Orton and Batista were fighting for the championship at WrestleMania XXX.

Could Orton or Batista turn his back on his ally in the match? Who knows.

The Constant Growth of Cesaro

It is a pretty good time to be Cesaro right now.

After winning the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania XXX, his rapid growth has continued since, not least with the recruitment of Paul Heyman to stand by his side.

With Heyman and Cesaro together, you almost get the impression anything is possible for the Swiss Superman.

He may end up feuding with his former tag partner, Jack Swagger, at Extreme Rules. However, there is still a distinct possibility that Cesaro is battling for gold at the show.

Could he be destined to be the next Intercontinental champion? Again, with Heyman by his side, you have to rank it as a serious possibility.

One thing is certain, though: Cesaro's rapid rise will increase even more at the show.

Stephanie McMahon's Role at the Show

It will be interesting to see quite where Stephanie McMahon fits into proceedings at Extreme Rules.

With her husband tied up in Evolution matters, is she going to be at ringside as it takes on The Shield? Or will she be involved in more pressing matters at the show?

Of late, her dislike of Daniel Bryan has grown and grown by the week. With Kane looking like the man who will face Bryan for the championship at the show, will she flank him at ringside for the match?

She will no doubt play a pivotal role across the card, such is her influence with the company on screen. And it will be interesting to follow the path Stephanie takes at Extreme Rules. There is no doubt about that.

Bray Wyatt vs. John Cena Once Again

It's pretty rare you get a feud coming out of WrestleMania that needs to run and run. However, Bray Wyatt vs. John Cena is one of those rare examples this time around.

You almost get the impression that Wyatt vs. Cena is not finished by a long way. Their match inside a steel cage at the show is hugely intriguing and will have plenty of hype attached to it.

The thought of Wyatt inside a cage doing battle is incredibly exciting. He is one of the most demonic, twisted characters the WWE has on its roster, and locking him inside a cage with an opponent is a recipe for great success.

And Cena seems to have stepped up to the mark during this rivalry, too. With Cena getting the upper hand at WrestleMania XXX, revenge will no doubt be on the agenda for Bray at Extreme Rules.
