Sir Alex Ferguson has been immortalised in a portrait with a difference, with the former Manchester United manager being drawn in the names of all his former players at Old Trafford.

The work of art, which was spotted by Metro, features no fewer than 218 players who graced the club during Fergie's reign.

That means that United legends such as Eric Cantona and Ryan Giggs are there, but it also means there are some Eric Djemba-Djembas and William Pruniers as well.

The paper's report quotes the artist, Annemarie Wright:

I was inspired to do this because my dad is a huge Manchester United fan, so I have been brought up with the Red Devils.

The piece took three weeks to complete and is all in my own handwriting.

She has sent it out to plenty of current and ex-United stars, with some getting back in touch after finding their name.
