Philadelphia Flyers vs. New York Rangers Game 1: Live Score and Highlights

New York Rangers 4, Philadelphia Flyers 1 FINAL

 

The New York Rangers took a 1-0 series lead over the Philadelphia Flyers with a 4-1 win at Madison Square Garden Thursday night.

The game was even after 40 minutes but a double minor taken by rookie Jason Akeson gave the Rangers a 4:00 power play and they cashed in twice on goals by Brad Richards and Derek Stepan to take a 3-1 lead. Carl Hagelin added an insurance goal with 4:08 remaining in the game.

Andrew MacDonald gave the Flyers a 1-0 lead in the first period on a shot from the point but Mats Zuccarello answered for the Rangers on a rebound to tie it midway through the period.

The Rangers clamped down on the Flyers, holding them to one shot on goal in the third period and keeping Claude Giroux without a shot on goal throughout the entire game. Henrik Lundqvist made 14 saves to earn the win.

Game 2 will be Sunday afternoon at Madison Square Garden.
