Today I am going to write about my Big 12 predictions, my breakdown, for the 2009 season. I am just writing my thoughts of what will happen in the Big 12 this season.

I will put up each team's schedule and put whether I think it will be a Win or a Loss. Slides 1-6 will be the North and 7-12 will be the south.

6. The Iowa State Cyclones

Display_image

This is a team that went 2-10 last year. I don't know much about them for this next season but firing the Head Coach, this can't mean good for the Cyclones. I don't see them coming up with a conference win this year, and out of conference Iowa is a for sure loss, unless they can pull a huge upset.

Schedule:
9/3/09 - North Dakota State - W
9/12/09 - Iowa - L
9/19/09 - at Kent State - W
9/26/09 - Army - W
10/3/09 - Kansas State (Arrowhead) - L
10/10/09 - at Kansas - L
10/17/09 - Baylor - L
10/24/09 - at Nebraska - L
10/31/09 - at Texas A&M - L
11/7/09 - Oklahoma State - L
11/14/09 - Colorado - L
11/21/09 - at Missouri - L

A 3-9 record for ISU. They will improve by one game from last season. Toss ups are Texas A&M and Kansas State.

5. The Kansas State Wildcats

AUSTIN, TX - SEPTEMBER 29: James Johnson #8 of the Kansas State Wildcats carries the ball during the game against the Texas Longhorns on September 29, 2007 at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, Texas. Kansas State won 41-21. (Photo by Br

The mediocre Kansas State team from last year will continue to be, well, mediocre. As the teams in the north that were ahead of them last year will be more experienced, except for Missouri, the Wildcats will need to replace Josh Freeman who was drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft.

Their recruiting hasn't gotten any better either as their recruiting rank was a ridiculous 92.

Schedule:
9/5/09 - Massachusetts - W
9/12/09 - @ Louisiana Laf. - W
9/19/09 - @ UCLA - L
9/26/09 - Tennessee Tech - W
10/3/09 - Iowa State (Arrowhead) - W
10/10/09 - @ Texas Tech - L
10/17/09 - Texas A&M - W
10/24/09 - Colorado - L
10/31/09 - @ Oklahoma - L
11/7/09 - Kansas - L
11/14/09 - Missouri - L
11/21/09 - Nebraska - L

5-7 seems about right for the Wildcats. Toss-ups are Missouri, Texas A&M, and Iowa State.

4. The Missouri Tigers

The Missouri Tigers will have a tough time this season I am sure. The Tigers went 9-3 last season and replacing quarterback Chase Daniels and wide receiver Jeremy Maclin won't be easy.

Not only that but the other teams in the north have improved slightly.

Schedule:
9/5/09 - @ Illinois - W
9/5/09 - Bowling Green - W
9/19/09 - Furman - W
9/25/09 - @ Nevada - W
10/8/09 - Nebraska - L
10/17/09 - @ Oklahoma State - L
10/24/09 - Texas - L
10/31/09 - @ Colorado - L
11/7/09 - Baylor - W
11/14/09 - @ Kansas State - W
11/21/09 - Iowa State - W
11/28/09 - @ Kansas (Arrowhead) - L

A 7-5 Missouri Tigers will be what I expect in the 2009 season. Toss ups will be Nebraska, Colorado, Baylor, and Illinois.

3. The Colorado Buffaloes

The Colorado Buffaloes. They have the schedule that seems like they could suprise people this year with the three toughest teams in the North playing at Folsom, a tough stadium in my opinion if you look at the upsets they seem to have when at home.

No. 4 Oklahoma lost in 07' and #21 West Virginia got knocked off by CU this last year. They do have QB's in the running for the starting position this year as they landed a few good QB recruits and senior Cody Hawkins, along with sophomore Matt Ballinger will be returning who both got the chance to start games.

Schedule:
9/5/09 - Colorado State - W
9/11/09 - @ Toledo - W
9/19/09 - Wyoming - W
10/1/09 - @ West Virginia - W
10/10/09 - @ Texas - L
10/17/09 - Kansas - L
10/24/09 - @ Kansas State - W
10/31/09 - Missouri - W
11/7/09 - Texas A&M - W
11/14/09 - @ Iowa State - W
11/19/09 - @ Oklahoma State - L
11/27/09 - Nebraska - L

An 8-4 record this year sounds about right for the Buffaloes. They haven't done too bad in recruiting this year and the young players from last season will have a little more experience coming into this season. Toss-ups will be Missouri, Nebraska, Kansas, and West Virginia.

2. The Nebraska Cornhuskers

This 2009 Husker team is great and they are improving greatly, thanks to Bo Pelini. Sorry to you Husker fans that disagree with me but this just isn't your year.

You have a great quarterback in Joe Ganz who has been the starter since he was a freshman, this will be a great team.

Schedule:
9/5/09 - Florida Atlantic - W
9/12/09 - Arkansas State - W
9/19/09 - @ Virginia Tech - L
9/26/09 - Louisiana Laf. - W
10/8/09 - @ Missouri - W
10/17/09 - Texas Tech - W
10/24/09 - Iowa State - W
10/31/09 - @ Baylor - W
11/7/09 - Oklahoma - L
11/14/09 - @ Kansas - L
11/21/09 - Kansas State - W
11/27/09 - @ Colorado - W

A 9-3 team next year isn't bad but won't get you to the Big 12 Championship because of the loss in Lawrence. The Jayhawks will win the tie. Sorry Husker fans.. Toss ups are Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Baylor, and Texas Tech.

1. The Kansas Jayhawks

KANSAS CITY, MO - NOVEMBER 29: Head coach Mark Mangino of the Kansas Jayhawks watches the action during the game against the Missouri Tigers on November 29, 2008 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. (Photo by Jamie Squire/Getty Images)

Kansas is going to be No. 1 in the north..Two words, Mark Mangino. He has turned their football program around. They are being considered more of a football team and the town of Lawrence is proud of it.

Not only are they bringing an 8-5, Insight Bowl winning, team back from last year they have a schedule that sets great for a 9-3 record. Which will give them the trip to the Big 12 Championship game, to represent the North.

Schedule:
They have a ridiculous out of conference schedule, nothing suprising this has always been KU.

9/5/09 - Northern Colorado - W
9/12/09 - @ UTEP - W
9/19/09 - Duke - W
9/26/09 - Southern Miss - W
10/10/09 - Iowa State - W
10/17/09 - @ Colorado - W
10/24/09 - Oklahoma - L
10/31/09 - @ Texas Tech - L
11/07/09 - @ Kansas State - W
11/14/09 - Nebraska - W
11/21/09 - @ Texas - L
11/27/09 - Missouri - W

They will have 3 losses to Oklahoma, Texas Tech and Texas. The games that are toss-ups are Nebraska, and Colorado. They will have a great passing game with Todd Reesing having great receivers in Desmond Briscoe and Kerry Meyer (Sorry if their names are spelled wrong).

Jake Sharp will also be returning which will help the running game along with passing as he is a great receiving back. This will be a great team expect things to happen with them this season.

6. The Texas A&M Aggies

Display_image

The mediocre Texas A&M team will be worse in my opinion. QB and RB both got drafted and I know they lost a lot more people. I dont see them winning one conference game this season.

Schedule:
Sep. 5 - New Mexico - W
Sep. 19 - Utah State - W
Sep. 26 - UAB - W
Oct. 3 - Arkansas - L
Oct. 10 - OK State - L
Oct. 17 - @ Kansas State - L
Oct. 24 - @ Texas Tech - L
Oct. 31 - Iowa State - L
Nov. 7 - @ Colorado - L
Nov. 14 - @ Oklahoma - L
Nov. 21 - Baylor - L
Nov. 26 - Texas - L

3-9. This team will be horrible. Toss ups are New Mexico, Utah State, and Kansas State.

5. The Baylor Bears

Display_image

Two words, Robert Griffin. Where did this guy come from? He is a very talented dual-threat QB, though he is only a Sophomore and his team needs to improve before they have the chance to win a Big 12 title.

This team is steadily improving. This just isn't their year but trust me, they will have a Big 12 title sometime in the next 5-10 years.

Schedule:
Sep. 5 - @ Wake Forest -L
Sep. 19 - Connecticut - W
Sep. 26 - Northwestern St. - W
Oct. 3 - Kent State - W
Oct. 10 - @ Oklahoma - L
Oct. 17 - @ Iowa State - W
Oct. 24 - Oklahoma State - L
Oct. 31 - Nebraska - W
Nov. 7 - @ Missouri - L
Nov. 14 - Texas - L
Nov. 21 - @ Texas A&M - W
Nov. 28 - Texas Tech - L

6-6 will be Baylor's record for the 2009 season. They are doing some good recruiting though and I think Robert Griffin will help. Toss ups are pretty much everybody on the schedule I marked with a L.

Don't be too confident when your team plays Baylor this year. This team could suprise teams and could give a good run in the 2009 season.

4. The Texas Tech Red Raiders

Display_image

The Texas Tech Red Raiders are going to have some hard times this season. Probably the best QB/WR tandem is gone. Replacing Harrell will be hard and Crabtree is going to be even harder.

Taylor Potts won't be a bad QB but he won't have Crabtree to help him out. Not only that, but the rest of the south is improving from last season, except for Texas A&M, and Oklahoma and Texas a little. They will come out fighting though I'm sure.

Mike Leach is a great coach and they could possibly surprise teams again this year.

Schedule:
Sep. 5 - North Dakota - W
Sep. 12 - Rice - W
Sep. 19 - @ Texas - L
Sep. 26 - @ Houston - W
Oct. 3 - New Mexico - W
Oct. 10 - Kansas State - W
Oct. 17 - @ Nebraska - L
Oct. 24 - Texas A&M - W
Oct. 31 - Kansas - W
Nov. 14 - @ Oklahoma State - L
Nov. 21 - Oklahoma - L
Nov. 28 - @ Baylor - W

As you can see they don't have that difficult of a schedule, but an 8-4 record seems about right. Toss ups are Baylor, Kansas, and Nebraska. They will make it to a bowl game though don't worry TTU fans..

3. The Texas Longhorns

GLENDALE, AZ - JANUARY 05: Wide receiver Quan Cosby #6 of the Texas Longhorns celebrates with Jared Norton #11 after a 26 yard touchdown reception against the Ohio State Buckeyes during the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl Game on January 5, 2009 at University of P

The Texas Longhorns. This is the team that felt they deserved the trip to the Big 12 Championship last season. They may feel the same if what my thoughts come true with another three-way tie.

Texas plays another horrible schedule, which is gonna kill them when it comes to the tie-breaker. I don't see them improving much as they have to replace the D-Line, Colt McCoy will now have to find Jordan Shipley more, as Quan Cosby is gone..

Schedule:
Sep. 5 - La.-Monroe - W
Sep. 12 - @ Wyoming - W
Sep. 19 - Texas Tech - W
Sep. 26 - Texas-El Paso - W
Oct. 10 - Colorado - W
Oct. 17 - Oklahoma - W
Oct. 24 - @ Missouri - W
Oct. 31 - @ OK State - L
Nov. 7 - UCF - W
Nov. 14 - @ Baylor - W
Nov. 21 - Kansas - W
Nov. 26 - @ Texas A&M - W

As you can see the out of conference schedule is ridiculous. They will be No. 1 until they lose in Stillwater to the Cowboys, and trust me OK State will win. Toss-ups are Kansas, Baylor, and Oklahoma.

2. The Oklahoma State Cowboys

Display_image

The Oklahoma State Cowboys will be the other team in the 11-1 tie-breaker, but with the BCS they won't give it to them because of a last week loss to OU, in Norman. They will beat Texas at home, I guarantee it.

The Cowboys are bringing back plenty of talent, except for Pettrigrew. But Zac Robinson and Dez Bryant are going to have a great passing duo like the Harrell/Crabtree duo last year for Texas Tech. Not only will they have a great passing game, their run game will be great as well.

Robinson is a dual threat QB and Kendall Hunter is one of the best backs in the game this year. And Mike Gundy is going to be raw this season because he's a man, he's 40.

Their schedule is a bit tougher which may give them a Fiesta Bowl bid, leaving the Cotton Bowl for Texas.

Schedule:
Sep. 5 - Georgia - W
Sep. 12 - Houston - W
Sep. 19 - Rice - W
Sep. 26 - Grambling - W
Oct. 10 - @ Texas A&M - W
Oct. 17 - Missouri - W
Oct. 24 - @ Baylor - W
Oct. 31 - Texas - W
Nov. 7 - @ Iowa State - W
Nov. 14 - Texas Tech - W
Nov. 19 - Colorado - W
Nov. 28 - @ Oklahoma - L

Toss-ups for the Cowboys are Oklahoma, Baylor, and Georgia.

1. The Oklahoma Sooners

MIAMI - JANUARY 08: Sam Bradford #14 of the Oklahoma Sooners hands the ball off to Chris Brown #29 against the Florida Gators during the FedEx BCS National Championship game at Dolphin Stadium on January 8, 2009 in Miami, Florida. Florida won 24-14. (Pho

The Oklahoma Sooners, the team that has won the last 3 Big 12 titles will have their 4th this year. There will be another 3 way tie this year but because they have a tougher schedule than Texas, and Oklahoma State won't get credit for beating Texas, and the way the schedule is set up, OU will get the bid to the Big 12 Championship with an 11-1 record.

They will then go to the National Championship and possibly play Florida again. Though they lost two good WR's, Manny Johnson and Joaquin Iglesias, and 4 starting line-man, they will have a great running game with DeMarco Murray and Chris Brown.

Jermaine Gresham is also coming back. The defense will be slightly improved as well. Hopefully Bob Stoops can win the National Championship this year... probably not.

Sep. 5 BYU - W
Sep. 12 Idaho St. - W
Sep. 19 Tulsa - W
Oct. 3 - @ Miami-FL - W
Oct. 10 - Baylor - W
Oct. 17 - @ Texas - L
Oct. 24 - @ Kansas - W
Oct. 31 - Kansas State - W
Nov. 7 - @ Nebraska - W
Nov. 14 - Texas A&M - W
Nov. 21 - @ Texas Tech - W
Nov. 28 - Oklahoma State - W

Oklahoma will have a great season. The toss ups are Baylor, Texas Tech, Texas, Kansas, and Nebraska.

They will play Kansas in the Big 12 Championship and Win.
