NBA, College Basketball, NBA Pacific, Golden State Warriors, Memphis Tigers Basketball, Chris Douglas-Roberts, 2008 NBA Draft

Golden State currently has the 14th pick in the 2008 NBA Draft and already have their eye on several prospects.

Arizona F Chase Budinger, seems to be thier main target and he wouldn't be that bad in Oakland. However, remember the last player the Warriors drafted with similar moves and a similar skill set?

Mike Dunleavy JR. Now how did that work out?

Not good. Golden State was a dead end team with no palent and inconsistent as a New York weatherman.

I won't even go over his amazing stats, accomplishments, and fabuloys play in the NCAA Tournament. If you want to see that just check out:

Here are the reasons why CDR would be a excellent Warrior

1. Douglas Roberts would thrive under Coach Don Nelson and the high octane tempo of the Golden State Warriors. He's already accustomed to from his time at Memphis; in my eyes would be a great match for the W's.

2. His drafting would fill the hole of unhappy guard, Mickeal Pietrus. Pietrus has been upset most of the season, because of his lack of playing time, as he felt he was dealt a bad hand in the Warriors bench rotation.

CDR is a better scorer, ball handler, and distributor than Mickeal. The perfect reason why Chris Mullin should let Pietrus walk and draft Douglas-Roberts.

3. CDR has the ideal body to play in a Don Nelson oriented system. If you think about and look at all of Golden State's key players (with the exception of Baron Davis), they are all almost razor thin. Stephen Jackson, Andris Biedrins, Monta Ellis. Those players are what you call functionally strong. All of them are strong but only to naked eye and those who understand the game, the same with Chris.

In other Mock Drafts, I've seen the Warriors have been shown as selecting Kansas F Darrell Arthur.

In lamen terms, bad move.

Lets take a look at their recent Big Men draftings:

Patrick O' Bryant 9th pick in the 2006 NBA Draft

Kosta Perovic 38th pick in the 2006 NBA Draft

Ike Diogu 9th pick in the 2005 NBA Draft

Chris Taft 42nd pick in the 2005 NBA Draft

Andris Biedrins 11th pick in the 2004 NBA Draft

All with the exception of Biedrins have turned out to be dissappointments and virtually unknowns on other ballclubs across the league.

Patrick and Kosta both play on Golden State now and they only get minutes during garbage time.

I think that pretty much ends all arguments about Darnell Jackson being chosen by the Warriors.

So with all feuds prevented and my point proven, I'll end with this:

Chris Mullin, pleaes choose Chris Douglas-Roberts with the 14th overall pick.

  1. Way to show your ignorance.

Chase Budinger isn't your average Mike Dunleavy, Adam Morrison, or JJ Redick type player (you know what I'm getting at here). He has a 40+ vertical, with splendid speed and explosion, along with a nice jumpshot.

    Go get your facts straight.

CDR is a nice player, but Chase actually has better potential than he does and is the perfect fit for run-and-gun teams like the Warriors. So you better hope that they do draft Chase instead of CDR.

    1. I actually think Sean's closer than you think with the Mike Dunleavy Jr. comparison. Dunleavy shouldn't be lumped together with either Redick or Morrison, neither of which has done much in the NBA. Dunleavy had a very good year in Indiana this year. He dropped almost 20 ppg and 3.5 apg. Not too shabby. His stint with GS didn't work out great, but averaging 20 ppg is no easy feat.

The one similarity that I think that Dunleavy and Budinger have is that, coming out of college, they possess an element of passivity.

Without a doubt Budinger has the athleticism to compete in the NBA, but can he bring it night in and night out? That remains to be seen and may very well be the function of the dysfunctional coaching situation at AZ. I don't honestly know.

  2. Getting your facts straight is a priority. Darrell Arthur would be a great git in Golden State. Also, Darnell Jackson is a totally separate player than Darrell Arthur, despite what your article says.

    1. Everybody leave me alone. My Denver Nuggets are no more.

  3. Warriors need a back-up point guard to spell B-diddy. A NEW power forward. Trade Al-Harrington, Matt Barnes and waive CJ Watson. Belinelli needs a shit load of playing time. He's proven he can play. Perovic has shown some signs of being a legit center. BRANDAN WRIGHT- has to be a starter sooner or later.

As for you article Sean, I agree. But I think Derrell Arthur would be a great fit for my Warriors.

Secondly, don't count too much on rookies playing under Don Nelson's basketball realm. Rookies are never on Don Nelson's list...and that is what is pissing me off.

Great article though. Write more on the Warriors, like to hear it from ya.

  4. Interesting. The Warriors shouldn't draft a big man because all the big men they've previously drafted didn't pan out? That logic doesn't make sense. Every team has drafted players at every position that didn't pan out, so no one should draft at all, I suppose.

However, CDR is incredible. I've watched him play his career at Memphis and he's exceptional. His old man skills will thrive in the NBA.
