The Memphis Grizzlies (49-32) defeated the Phoenix Suns (47-34) by a final score of 97-91 Monday at the US Airways Center, clinching a postseason berth and eliminating the Suns in the process.

The Grizzlies helped themselves by slowing the game down to their pace for the most part, and getting the ball inside on offense.

They outscored the Suns in the paint 50-40, as Zach Randolph went for a season-high 32 points on 15-of-25 shooting. His frontcourt mate Marc Gasol added 18.

That might not have been enough without veteran Mike Miller though. He provided a huge offensive spark off the bench, scoring 21 points while knocking down 5-of-6 threes.

The Suns were led by sixth man Markieff Morris, who scored 21 points. Four starters reached double figures, led by 14 apiece from Channing Frye and Goran Dragic.

The loss officially ends the playoff hopes of the Suns, who were supposed to finish near the bottom of the Western Conference this season.

Despite missing the playoffs, they've thoroughly overachieved this season and deserve credit for shattering expectations.

As for the Grizzlies, they now has a chance to improve their seeding with a win over the Mavericks on Wednesday.
