This is one man's humble opinion on things the current Nets players on the roster should be working on this summer.

I'm going to try to stay away from obvious things, but in some cases it may be too obvious to ignore.

This is in no specific order, but we're only going to talk about guys who are coming back.

Vince Carter

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ - MARCH 27: Vince Carter #15 of the New Jersey Nets drives against the Los Angeles Lakers during the game on March 27, 2009 at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey. NOTE TO USER: User expressly acknowledges and agrees that,

I'm starting with VC cause he is the easiest and at this point in his career he really doesn't have to work on much.

He can shoot it, he can handle and he is adept at passing. One knock on him has always been on leadership but I believe he's matured into a good leader, especially for a younger locker room.

So Vince this summer, you need to work on...doing what your doing. That's right, make sure you do your normal thing which has allowed you to stay relatively healthy the past few years.

Devin Harris

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ - MARCH 27: Devin Harris #34 of the New Jersey Nets drives against Derek Fisher #2 of the Los Angeles Lakers during the game on March 27, 2009 at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey. NOTE TO USER: User expressly acknowledge

Devin...my boy. Well its clear you do one thing extraordinarily well, penetrate. Well two things because also he can finish pretty well.

When his penetration is on he is tough to guard. In fact the only options for most defenders is to back way off him and force him to shoot the jump shot.

And while we're lefting wanting a little more from you on the defensive end, especially on the ball, Devin this summer...please work on the mid range.

You can get that mid-range pull up at any point in time you want. The few games when he's hitting that shot consistently he is impossible to guard. We'll take that more often and it will make you more effecient.

Yi Jianlian

LOS ANGELES, CA - NOVEMBER 25: Yi Jianlian #9 of the New Jersey Nets rests during a break in the game against the Los Angeles Lakers on November 25, 2008 at Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. The Lakers won 120-93. NOTE TO USER: User expressly

Yi, a lightning Rod for criticism. Everyone hates Yi and watching him play I don't blame anyone.

But I believe that there still is hope. I refuse to count out a 7-0 agile four who can shoot and run the floor, I refuse.

And if you look at Orlando's roster, they have a player in Yi's mold who is thriving, Rashard Lewis. A perimeter oriented four man.

Thats why Yi this summer, I hope your...watching tape of Rashard Lewis. You can do what he does! And while we have someone manning the middle, Brook, the perimeter can be all yours. And should be.

Brook Lopez

LONDON - OCTOBER 12: Brook Lopez (#11) of New Jersey Nets attempts the shot over Udonis Haslem (#40) of the Miami Heat during the NBA preseason game as part of the 2008 NBA Europe Live Tour between New Jersey Nets and Miami Heat at the O2 Arena on Octobe

Brook you're huge. You clog up the middle like its your job. You shoot foul shots well. You alter shots.

You're pretty skilled with your back to the basket. Now its time to open the whole thing up. He found himself last year a lot of times open in the short corner giving him that little 10 foot jumper on the baseline. Fine.

Now Brook, let's work on facing up. Go through some face up moves and face up series and have something to go to next season. We're running the offense more through you, so this will be key.

Sean Williams

NEW ORLEANS - FEBRUARY 15: Sean Williams #51 of the Sophomore team goes to the basket during the T-Mobile Rookie Challenge & Youth Jam part of 2008 NBA All-Star Weekend at the New Orleans Arena on February 15, 2008 in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Sophomo

You're athletic, you can run the floor. You can jump, you can block shots. You got live legs. The game should be getting easier for you, not harder.

You shouldn't be sent down the NBDL to get work. Guys make more with way less skills than you do. Can you be our Birdman? (minus the rehab stint).

This summer Sean just work on being a professional. Work on doing what it takes year in year out to be in the NBA. Please come ready to play next year.

Chris Douglas-Roberts

CDR. One of the few initial themed nicknames that I can tolerate and makes sense.

I was ecstatic when we selected you and you are going to prove a lot of people wrong in this league. Mainly that guys with a jumper like yours can make it.

We got a taste of what you can be towards the end of last year when you started getting actual burn. That will keep up.

But this summer can you work on...being our defensive ace. You have the size length to cover wings, but I also think you're smart enough and good enough to get some point guards too.

We need an ace on defense, someone we can go to to cool the hot hand. Why shouldn't that be you?

Josh Boone

NEW ORLEANS - JANUARY 21: Josh Boone #2 of the New Jersey Nets shoots against the New Orleans Hornets on January 21, 2009 at the New Orleans Arena in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Hornets defeated the Nets 102-92. NOTE TO USER: User expressly acknowledge

Josh Boone you are a third string center. At best your a back up. Please don't let the lack of playing hurt your performance on the court.

I'm going to give you a piece of advice that I give to my 10 year olds that I coach. Finish!

This summer please work on finishing. Get strong when you're near the rim and dunk the ball home. Your foul shooting stinks and defensively you don't bring much, so why else are you out there?

Ryan Anderson

Ryan Anderson. Another guy who's game I love. You seem to have a nose for the ball and thats an important skill to have obviously.

You can shoot it and you play with a certain bravado I love.

This summer you need to...get stronger. We need you to battle the fours and adding bulk is only going to help you in doing that.

Keyon Dooling

NEW YORK - MARCH 18: Keyon Dooling #55 of the New Jersey Nets dribbles against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden March 18, 2009 in New York City. NOTE TO USER: User expressly acknowledges and agrees that, by downloading and/or using this Photo

Keyon..like your hair. Like your personality. Love your game.

Not much to say here and finally we got a capable back up point guard after Kidd left but we'll take it.

So Keyon this summer...keep working on being the man. You can slash you can shoot you defend. Not much to complain about.

Bobby Simmons, Jarvis Hayes, Trenton Hassell, Mo Ager

NEW YORK - MARCH 18: Jarvis Hayes #22 of the New Jersey Nets looks on against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden March 18, 2009 in New York City. NOTE TO USER: User expressly acknowledges and agrees that, by downloading and/or using this Photogr

You guys all fall into the same group. You're here cause we like your contract. But on the court you're here to shoot and defend.

Jarvis you actually proved to be pretty serviceable and you battled through a hand injury which upped your toughness in my book.

But you three...give our a bench an identity. I want the laughing. I want the towel waving, I want the jawwing. Take note of former bencher Anthony Johnson and lets give us some identity boys.
