The Phoenix Suns defeated the New Orleans Pelicans 94-88 Wednesday night behind 21 points on 8-of-14 shooting (4-of-7 from three) from Gerald Green.
With the win, the Suns (47-31) continue to hold a slim one-game lead over the Memphis Grizzlies for the Western Conference's eighth and final playoff spot. Conversely, the Pelicans (32-46) have lost their last six games.
Slogging along without Anthony Davis (back spasms) once again, the Pelicans received inconsistent offensive contributions from their supporting cast throughout.
Despite scoring 32 points in the second quarter and cutting the Suns' lead to one at halftime, New Orleans was unable to flash similar intensity in the second half, when it was outscored by five.
Goran Dragic poured in 20 points and dished out a game-high nine assists while Eric Bledsoe chipped in 16 points, including 12 in the third quarter. Bledsoe added six rebounds, six assists, two steals and two blocks to his final line.
P.J. Tucker and Markieff Morris were the only other Suns players to finish in double figures, scoring 15 and 10 points, respectively.
Backup center Jeff Withey led the Pelicans with 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting and Darius Miller fell two points shy of tying a career-high with 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting.
Austin Rivers was steady as well, totaling 10 points, eight assists and seven rebounds in 30 minutes.
Next up for the Pelicans is a clash with the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday. The Suns will be back in action against the San Antonio Spurs after a day off on Thursday.
