Nearly two full years have passed since Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley first met with the WBO welterweight title on the line. On Saturday night, they're ready to do it again.
Can Pacquiao regain his title? Or will Bradley "avenge" his controversial victory in the first fight and prove that he’s the true champion?
Wednesday afternoon, the two men will meet for the final press conference ahead of their hotly anticipated rematch. You can be all but certain that the verbal fisticuffs will be flying fast and furious.
Where: Hollywood Theater, MGM Grand, Las Vegas, Nev.
When: 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT
Controversy exploded throughout the sports world on the night of June 9, 2012, when Michael Buffer announced the words "and new," awarding Bradley a split decision and the WBO welterweight title over a stunned Pacquiao.
The reaction was instantaneous. The entire boxing world felt they had been duped, victims of scoring that was at best incompetent and at worst corrupt. Pacquiao was dumbstruck, Bradley euphoric, and the fans were annoyed.
Pacquiao declined an immediate rematch, and instead went on to get decisively knocked out by longtime rival Juan Manuel Marquez in December 2012. After taking nearly a full year off from the ring, the Filipino icon returned in November to take a dominant, but somewhat disappointing, unanimous decision over Brandon Rios.
Bradley has constantly questioned Pacquiao's fire and killer instinct since their first fight. He's taken every available opportunity to call out "Pacman" for not having it anymore. By contrast, he's surging, having taken big victories from Ruslan Provodnikov and Marquez in his last two fights.
Unlike the first fight, many fans and media view this rematch as a true pick 'em type of fight, but luckily, we don't have long to wait.
The two fighters will share the stage Wednesday for one of the final times before their big clash, and you can watch it live right here.
