I am not going to go into an article stressing why you should vote for every single Colorado Rockie, but I do believe Todd Helton and Brad Hawpe have very strong cases to be in the All-Star game. However, Todd Helton isn't in the top five in the National League first basemen voting and Brad Hawpe isn't even in the top 15 for NL outfielders.

Let me first start with Helton. Among the qualified first basemen in the NL, Helton is third in batting average, fourth in runs, fifth in doubles, and is sixth in OPS.

Compare that to the fifth leading vote-getter in the NL first basemen, Lance Berkman. Berkman is 12th (last) in batting average, fifth in runs, ninth in doubles, and is fifth in OPS.

Todd Helton should be in the top five for the NL first basemen, ahead of Berkman and considered for the All-Star Game.

Next is Hawpe. Among the qualified outfielders in the National League, Hawpe is first in batting average, 11th in runs, first in doubles and second in OPS.

Compare that to Kosuke Fukudome (21, 24, 19, 13), Andre Ethier (15, 13, 9, 10), Matt Kemp (6, 15, 26, 9), and Adam Dunn (20, 20, 29, 7). What that shows is Hawpe is miles ahead of the people at the 12-15 spots for NL OF. He should definitely be considered an All-Star outfielder.

Now I am not advertising going crazy over this but what you need to do is look at the stats, not just the names. Helton might not be at the form he once was, he is still a top five first baseman this year.

Hawpe isn't a well known outfielder, but he is still blowing the competition out of the water. Yet, neither of these guys show up in the voting results. So, please go out there and vote for those who deserve it.

Vote Helton and Hawpe for the NL All-Star team.
