Stats weren't officially kept from Michigan's spring game, so they'll probably be spotty from source to source.

And there wasn't a score, either.

Really, seeing was believing, or not believing, when it came to gauging the Wolverines after Saturday's spring scrimmage at The Big House in Ann Arbor.

So far, there's "a lot of work to be done," per coach Brady Hoke, who must have repeated that phrase at least four or five times when conducting sideline interviews with Big Ten Network's Lisa Byington.

Quarterback should be up for grabs--no question there. Devin Gardner, a senior, is the presumed starter. But he didn't exactly dazzle during the practice session. Other than a 44-yard touchdown toss to Freddy Canteen, Gardner was off-target and didn't appear too comfortable.

Canteen, of course, entered this weekend with a head full of steam. The freshman wideout definitely delivered. If not for a short throw by Gardner, he would have had two touchdowns during the "game."

De'Veon Smith, a sophomore, appears to be the top back...but it's only spring. And you know that means...nothing, basically.

Team 135's D-Line applied pressure. The O-Line backed down, but there were snaps in which it held its own. Again, it's only spring, so get too crazy about depth charts and the like.

It was nice to see football, even if it was just an OK spring "game."
