Real Madrid's New "Project" A Failure?
Real Madrid's new project is a sure shot failure, they are not signing any defenders, History will repeat itself, Real won't win anything.
Seems irritating doesn't it?
Well that's all I have been reading lately.
I am sorry, I had to start the article like that or else no one would have bothered to read this article.
Before I get to the point, I have to ask you a few questions, bear with me please.
- How long has it been since the transfer window started?
- Are you Florentino Perez, Jorge Valdano, Manuel Pellegrini, Zinedine Zidane or any of the member in Mr. Perez's team?
Let me answer these questions, it has only been 18 days and NO none of you are Florentino Perez, Jorge Valdano, Manuel Pellegrini, Zinedine Zidane or any of the member in Mr. Perez's team.
As I have clarified that you are none of the people above mentioned, I have to say one thing, only the people above mentioned know who Real are about to sign or maybe only Mr. Perez.
No one of you know the plans but still you go out and smash Real Madrid for not signing defenders and suggest the project as a failure even when the transfer window is only 18 days old (Today it's 18 days old and I have been reading that kind of stuff for over a week now). Most of you guys are not even Madristas and that's what bothers me the most!
But I have a theory prepared which is most likely to be true because I have done some researching as I do really care for the Los Blancos.
None of you bother to see what defenders are really linked with Real just because of a fact that the defenders are the ones which would come way cheaper than the attacking players and are least likely to make the headlines.
My Defender Theory
There is a high possibility that Alvaro Arbeloa could be returning to his home (Real Madrid) as Rafa Benitez is looking to sign Glen Johnson in that case we could see Sergio Ramos and Alvaro Arbeloa playing RB & LB or vice-versa and Pepe, Cristoph Metzelder & Ezequiel Garay filling the central positions in which Pepe and Garay look more likely.
We could see Arbeloa playing at right back and Sergio Ramos going to the center, yes you read it right the center. Sergio Ramos was bought by Perez to replace the great Fernando Hierro to play in the center and Sergio Ramos might be good attacking from the right flank but he has never been a pushover and would actually be a better central defender than Pepe.
And the other central defender would be Ezequiel Garay and most probably Pepe would be sold if he doesn't agree to sit on the bench.
And Ivan Marcano (Racing Santander) could be purchased to play left back or we could see Marcelo or Miguel Torres playing left back. Marcano, Torres and Marcelo are all decent defenders at least way better than Gabriel Heinze ever was for Real Madrid.
And as for substitute defenders Gary(CB), Opare(RB) and Chema Anton(LB) could step up from the reserves team (RM Castilla). (This holds good for both the theories)
Hope my theory can answer your questions about what Defenders Real Madrid can play, and all of you can stop predicting the failure of Mr. Perez's new "project" as all of the defenders mentioned above are decent.
Note: Fernando Hierro, Michel Salgado, Roberto Carlos and Ivan Helguera were not the world's best defenders when they signed but they all became great in Real Madrid.
Disclaimer: I am not to be blamed if the defenders I mentioned do not end up in the main team.
The project is a failure if 15 days remain in the transfer window and there is no sign of a defender on the doors of the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu. - Deepak Israni
