Things turned ugly in the Campeonato Amazonense, the state championship of the Amazonas in Brazil, when Penarol goalkeeping coach Guanair Conceicao charged the pitch and viciously punched the referee in the back of the head.

After Fast Clube scored the match's second goal while a Penarol player was apparently down and injured, Penarol players swarmed the embattled referee when Conceicao invaded the pitch and made his move. Things could have been worse had Conceicao not been held back by one of his own players.

League official Vladimir Bastos told Globoesporte per Dirty Tackle that Conceicao's antics weren't exactly an anomaly: "He is an unbalanced person."

According to the same Dirty Tackle report, Penarol's goalkeeper was pepper sprayed by police after the incident and had to miss part of the match after it resumed.

It ended as a 3-3 draw.
