MLB Team Needs 2014: Arizona Diamondbacks

The Arizona Diamondbacks front office collective must wince at the mere mention of Tommy John surgery, because they have suffered a rash of injuries demanding the famous procedure.

Of course, no name is bigger or more important than Patrick Corbin. Losing the lefty was a huge blow to the budding team, but there is still enough talent to make a serious run at the postseason in 2014.

MLB Contributor Gabe Zaldivar breaks down what needs to happen for the Diamondbacks to mount a run and break through the .500 barrier for the first time in three seasons. There is no reason Arizona can’t best their 81-win limbo in which they seem to be stuck.

The starting rotation needs to perform at a superb level, stay healthy and keep the bullpen as rested as possible.

Aside from that, the name of the game is consistency with the bats. If all goes according to plan, the Diamondbacks could make noise in what is a very tough division.
