Rahul Dravid is not a part of the Indian team for the one dayers against the West Indies. What I don’t understand is that why has he been ignored again considering that Sachin Tendulkar, Zaheer Khan and Suresh Raina are not there and we desperately need some experienced players for this difficult tour.

Also after the disastrous Twenty20 World Cup in England we need to take some concrete steps to ensure that a team loaded with such a lot of talent at their disposal does not goof up at the big stage.

Rahul had a major role of a sheet anchor and he was someone who could hold the innings together for a long time. Every team needs someone for that role and we have not found one after Dravid’s exit.

Agreed that MS Dhoni played that role for sometime and to perfection I must say, but this is not his natural game. He struggled big time in the T20 World Cup and it would be better for him to leave that job for Rahul. Also players like Yuvraj and Rohit Sharma excel when they have someone at the other end to do the tedious job of fending off bowlers and giving them more strike.

Rahul Dravid has done great service for his team and I do hope he gets a chance to wear the blue jersey and then bid adieu to one day cricket. This is the least we can do for him.
