New Orleans Pelicans star forward Anthony Davis injured his left ankle in Friday's game against the Utah Jazz. According to the Pelicans' official Twitter feed, he will not return:

There is no word on the severity of the injury, or if he will have to miss additional time beyond this game.

Davis has missed nine games this year with a fracture in his left hand and a sprained left shoulder, according to In his rookie season, he only played in 62 games due to myriad injuries. 

The 21-year-old is in the midst of a fantastic season, averaging 21.7 points, nearly three blocks and 10.5 rebounds per game. He's also shooting an impressive 52 percent from the floor. He is the Pelicans' leading scorer.
