ESPN's First Take is known for having some wild opinions on its show, and former NFL running back and current ESPN analyst Merril Hoge had supposedly made a bold statement of his own that the show decided to bring up.
On Friday, First Take tweeted that Hoge said he would personally take former Missouri Tigers pass-rusher Michael Sam over South Carolina's Jadeveon Clowney.
This was a particularly strange tweet, as Clowney is considered to be arguably the top NFL prospect in this year's draft, while Sam is expected to be taken on the third day.
Hoge later cleared up that he would take Buffalo's Khalil Mack over Clowney, and not Sam, which means that someone managing the First Take Twitter account might have screwed up.
Let me clear something up right now I never said I would draft Sam over Clowney! I said I would pass on Clowney for Khlil Mack @espn— Merril Hoge (@merrilhoge) March 21, 2014
Earlier in the week, Hoge said that he believed Johnny Manziel would be a bust, so many people didn't find it hard to believe Hoge would like Sam over Clowney.
