With punishing defense and timely shooting, the No. 6 Baylor Bears took care of the No. 11 Nebraska Cornhuskers on Friday at the AT&T Center in San Antonio.
The Bears held Nebraska to just 23 percent shooting in the first half, as they built a 29-16 lead. The Huskers found their shooting stroke after the break, but a series of fouls waylaid their positive momentum.
Nebraska head coach Tim Miles was also ejected early in the second half after receiving his second technical foul, effectively ending any possible comeback bid.
Meanwhile, Baylor stayed steady and composed, shooting just 40.4 percent from the field but going 38-for-48 from the free throw line. Cory Jefferson led a balanced Baylor attack with 16 points.
The win advances Baylor to the third round, where they'll face the winner of Creighton (3) / Louisiana-Lafayette (14) next in the West Region portion of the tournament.
Final Score: Baylor Bears 74 - Nebraska Cornhuskers 60
