Just a month after starring as part of NBC's Winter Olympics coverage in Sochi, Russia, former Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir announced that he is getting divorced.

According to TMZ.com, the 29-year-old Weir and husband Victor Voronov will split just two years into their marriage.

Weir announced the news on Twitter, but didn't appear to hold any ill will toward Voronov:

To his credit, Weir tried to put a positive spin on a very sad situation:

In some ways, the writing may have already been on the wall regarding the dissolution of Weir's marriage. According to Amber James and Dylan Howard of RadarOnline.com, Weir and Voronov were involved in a domestic-violence incident in January.

A police report that Vonorov filed alleged that Weir bit him during their spat. Both men appeared in court earlier this month, but Voronov requested that the case be dismissed, and it was.

Even so, the couple were apparently unable to work out their differences.

Weir hadn't made many headlines since the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, and he officially retired in 2013. But everything changed in Sochi.

Alongside Tara Lipinski, Weir was among the most interesting and entertaining analysts that NBC had to offer. In addition to providing honest and insightful critiques, his renowned fashion sense was on full display.

It is certainly unfortunate that Weir's personal life has taken a hit, but perhaps his professional life can help fill that void to some extent.

The three-time national champion seemingly has a bright future in broadcasting, and it will be interesting to see what his next move is in that regard.
