Antonio Valencia came away from an early clash with Olympiakos' Joel Campbell with a nasty-looking black eye during Manchester United's last 16 clash in the Champions League—but the post-match selfie showed just how severe it was.

Valencia played on despite the blow and the impact to his vision, only withdrawn after 77 minutes of the match.

After the game he said on Instagram that "this is nothing for joy that Manchester has given me."

Whether United's run continues in the competition or not, the comeback was certainly one of the high points of the season so far, with players finding inspiration and fight to overturn the two-goal deficit.

In Valencia's case, looking like a boxer who'd just been through 12 bruising rounds and came out on the winning side was somehow rather apt.
