Play it again, Sam! The Atlanta Falcons
found a Mike Vick replacement with #3 draft pick Matt Ryan
out of Boston College. Now they just needed somebody to protect him. In a surprise bid, the Falcons
traded up in order to draft USC tackle Sam Baker. In what has become already an offensive tackle heavy draft, Sam Baker was expected to go late-first to mid-second round. He was projected by many to be the 10th offensive tackle to go, but the Falcons saw his worth and drafted him at #21 overall, the 6th O-tackle to be selected. Some critics have already voiced their opposition to the deal. We at Trojanwire think this may have been the smartest move made by the Falcons management in a long time. Even at the 21st pick, Sam Baker's size and stability will be invaluable to the development of their offense.
