TNA Impact Wrestling: Complete Preview, Rumors, News and More for March 20

Donald WoodFeatured ColumnistMarch 19, 2014

Thursday’s episode of Impact Wrestling marks the beginning of the build to April’s Sacrifice pay-per-view, and TNA must wrap up any loose ends from Lockdown this week and begin looking to the future.

With Magnus defending his TNA World Heavyweight Championship against Samoa Joe in the highly anticipated rematch and Bobby Lashley making his return to in-ring action against Ethan Carter III, this week’s broadcast will be memorable.

Add a tag team championship match between defending champions The BroMans, The Wolves, and the newly formed team of Sanada and Tigre Uno, and Thursday’s Impact Wrestling is must-watch television.

Here is all the vital viewing information for this week’s show and what to expect from this episode.

Where: Universal Studios, Orlando, Fla.

When: Thursday, March 20 at 9 p.m. ET (pre-taped)

Watch: Spike TV

Magnus Defends the World Title vs. Samoa Joe

After watching Magnus successfully defend his title at Lockdown via the interference of Abyss, new director of wrestling observations MVP has booked the rematch TNA fans wanted; Magnus will take on Samoa Joe for the belt once again this week.

This is an exciting match for free TV.

While Samoa Joe has been booked to look like a legitimate threat inside and outside the ring, Magnus has been booked the exact opposite. The champion has yet to win a match clean, and the chants of "paper champion" have started to ring true. That’s not good.

Question on Everybody’s Mind: Will Magnus Earn a Clean Victory?

Judging from the previous booking of the main event scene, Magnus is the long-term future of the company and a star TNA can build around. But as well as he has been positioned in the company, the booking of his reign has been absolutely appalling.

Magnus needs a clean victory to legitimize his run with the title, but few fans can comprehend it happening this week, especially with Abyss, the champion’s newest ally, chained to Eric Young at ringside.

Nothing can go wrong now, right?

Hype Meter: 4 out of 5 Double Black Hole Slams

As much as Magnus needs a clean win for his resume, there is no way Abyss and Eric Young will be at ringside during this match and not interfere. Whether or not Abyss directly helps Magnus retain the title, there will be shenanigans in this bout.

TNA fans just want a clean finish.

The likely scenario is that Abyss beats down Young on the outside and drags his lifeless body into harm’s way and attacks Samoa Joe. With Samoa Joe disoriented, Magnus will slither in and pick up the scraps for another tainted win.

Bobby Lashley, The BroMans and More Impact Action

Despite what could be another frustrating main event, the rest of this week’s episode is shaping up to be an exciting mix of elite wrestling and entertaining storylines, led by the in-ring return of former TNA and WWE Superstar Bobby Lashley.

Lashley lacks elite mic skills, but he has plenty of in-ring talent and mainstream notoriety to make his run with Impact Wrestling interesting. With his first challenger being ECIII, this should be an entertaining storyline and an intriguing match.

Question on Everybody’s Mind: Which Team Will Win the Tag Titles This Week?

The booking of the tag team division has been peculiar, to say the least. Not only did The Wolves travel to a house show in West Virginia to win the TNA Tag Team Championships, but they also managed to lose them within days during an iPPV taping in Japan.

That is not how you book a tag team division.

After watching weeks of Impact Wrestling in which fans were told that The BroMans were a heel tag team worthy of wearing the gold, the team has been booked to look incredibly weak. The duo should be relegated to comedy bits and putting over the dominant team in the division, The Wolves.

Hype Meter: 3 out of 5 Beautiful People

There is a ton of action scheduled for this week’s episode of Impact Wrestling, but for once in televised wrestling, there is actually depth being shown in the knockout division, as Angelina Love is returning.

Not only is there a storyline developing between Love and Velvet Sky, but there is also a champion looking for a challenger and a feud brewing between Gail Kim and Lei'D Tapa. That proves how much the company is starting to care about the division again.

With so much action scheduled for this week’s show, wrestling fans don’t want to miss Thursday’s Impact Wrestling.
