Ireland and UAE clash at the Sylhet Stadium in Bangladesh on Wednesday in their second contests in Group B of the 2014 World Twenty20 (T20).
However, while the Emerald Isle overcame Zimbabwe in dramatic style on Monday, Khurram Khan and Co. lost to the Netherlands, making this particular encounter hugely significant for both nations in their bid to make it through the qualifying section of the tournament.

Ireland: William Porterfield’s side come into this first-round Group B encounter on the back of a stunning three-wicket victory over Zimbabwe on Monday which came off the final ball of the match.
As a result, victory over UAE on Wednesday, coupled with a Netherlands defeat to Zimbabwe, would all but seal the Emerald Isle’s safe passage through to the next phase of the competition.
UAE: The underdogs put up a brave fight in their opening contest of the tournament against a far more experienced Dutch outfit, compiling a more than useful total of 151, before taking their opponents all the way down to the wire as Netherlands eventually prevailed by six wickets with just seven balls remaining in the game.
George Dockrell: The left-arm spinner may only be 21 years old, however, already in his brief time in international cricket, the canny tweaker has managed to develop a mature head on his young shoulders.
And with 24 T20 matches under his belt, including appearances at both of the previous two World T20s, Dockrell’s big-game experience and ability to bowl spin under pressure in the subcontinent will prove vital to his team’s chances of success in Bangladesh.
Khurram Khan: The captain will again be determined to lead from the front in UAE’s must-win contest against Ireland, just as the No. 3 batsman did in his country’s first match with the Netherlands on Monday.
110 - Khurram Khan has now scored 110 runs from 80 balls in three T20 innings against Netherlands and been dismissed once. Thorn. #wt20— OptaJim (@OptaJim) March 17, 2014
As on that occasion, at the same Sylhet Stadium where the two teams meet on Wednesday, the 42-year-old made an excellent contribution with the bat of 31 from only 25 balls, with four boundary fours, after the loss of two early wickets.
Who will win the World T20 contest between Ireland and UAE?
Weather: We are expecting a low of 21 degrees Celsius and a high of 32 degrees Celsius, with a slight chance of rain, for this World T20 contest.
Pitch: Both nations played their first encounters of the tournament at the same venue earlier this week, and so they will be familiar with the surface, with it so far appearing advantageous to field first after winning the toss.
