Manchester City 2 (Silva 14, Dzeko 90)

Ten-man Manchester City recovered from the 10th-minute dismissal of Vincent Kompany to claim a vital Premier League victory at Hull City.

Goals from David Silva and Edin Dzeko secured the three points which maintained City's title challenge, but the visitors deserved credit for their defensive display, which underlined the character in the squad.

Kompany was dismissed for a last-man challenge on Nikica Jelavic, and the makeshift central defence of Martin Demichelis and Javi Garcia held firm throughout with Hull stifled by numerous offside decisions during the 90 minutes.

Silva opened the scoring in the 14th minute with a delightful curling strike, and Dzeko slotted home in the final minute to seal the points for Manuel Pellegrini's team.
