Lewis Hamilton Stopped and Asked for ID at 2014 Australian Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton ended the day on top of the timesheets in practice for the Australian Grand Prix, but his day took a strange turn when he was stopped by an officious security guard and asked for his pass. 

Given Hamilton was in full Mercedes overalls and clearly busy with the practice session up and running, he looked less than impressed.


As ridiculous as it looks in GIF form, you can have a little bit of sympathy with the security guard.

It's precisely that sort of complacency that someone in the right attire must be legitimate that has allowed pranksters like Karl Power to make appearances on famous sporting fields in the past.

In 2001, Power famously turned up in a Manchester United team photo moments before the side took on Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
